Six years.

September 19.
The darkest day of my life.

I miss Daniel. Every day I miss him. 💙

But it’s more than a *missing.*

It’s a missing that’s in a place so deep.

Like a deep pit where terrible daggers pierce my heart with every memory, and every hint of Daniel. A place where I can try to remember and feel the warmth of his hugs or the sound of his laughter only to feel a dagger pierce me instead. And if I stay there too long, it becomes a place of regret and grief over what *could* have been and *should* have been.

I hate that pit. I hate those daggers.

But I’ve learned not to stay there in that pit. I just can’t live there. It’s too painful. Too deep.

I fully understand the story from 2 Samuel 12, where King David’s servants are baffled as they watch him rise up, wash his face, and eat a meal right after his son dies. When the child was alive, they were concerned because he wouldn’t eat, he wouldn’t rise from prayer, and he wouldn’t be comforted as he mourned.

When questioned, King David said these words that have become my banner- “Why should I fast? I can’t bring him back to life. Someday I will go to him, but he can’t come back to me.”

That’s my resolve.

Someday I will see Daniel again, but he can’t come back to me.

So I rise up from that pit.
I shake off the daggers.

I will not stay there.

Everyday I rise up.

Because I have Kingdom work to do.

What about you?
Are you mourning a loss?
Loss of a loved one?
Loss of a job?
Loss of a relationship?
Or just a loss of hope?

There’s a time to mourn. There’s a time to feel the daggers.

But you can’t stay there. That’s where the Enemy wants you- paralyzed by grief and regret and rendered useless for the Kingdom.

So RISE up.
Go wash your face.
Shake off those daggers.

You have Kingdom work to do. 🙌🏼

In the Old Testament (Leviticus), when God’s people brought a sacrificial lamb for the purification of their sins and ailments, the priest inspected THE LAMB.

NOT the person.

THE LAMB.

So stop hiding in your shame, your guilt, and your sin that keeps burying you in unworthiness.

Come BOLDLY to the Throne of God today.

It’s JESUS, THE LAMB inside of you that God inspects for worthiness. 🙌🏼

You are *already* worthy because of the Blood of the Lamb.

So enter in.

Come boldly.

Rise up and take your Blood-bought place at the King’s table!

He’s already pronounced you worthy because of JESUS!
