Praying Over Your Home and Family

As a mom I used to get overwhelmed at the thought of praying for my home and my family until I realized the enemy is the one trying to convince me that it’s hard and I don’t know what I was doing. So from one mom to another, it’s not that hard. Just pray what comes to mind.

Let’s do it together!

Start by walking through your house. As you stand in each room think about what that room is for and pray into that. Here are a few examples:

Kitchen: feeding: pray into that physical and spiritually. Maybe it could look like, “Lord, we invite you to be Lord of our kitchen. We thank you for the provision for the food in the pantry and the ability to cook meals for my family that will nourish us physically to do your will. We ask you to be a part of our conversations around the table as we eat. May we feed on your word and hunger for righteousness.”

Living Room: gathering and entertainment: Pray something like, “God we invite you into this living space. Be a part of our conversations and entertainment. I bind anything that would try to come through the television or gaming systems we have that would take our eyes off your goodness and grace. Keep our desires for your will. Bind us together as a family ready to do your will.”

Bathrooms: cleansing:  “Lord as this is a place of cleaning, would you cleanse our hearts and minds of anything that does not glorify you and make us righteous.”

Bedrooms: sleeping and privacy: “Lord I bless this bed to be a place intimacy with you. This is a personal dwelling place for (name the persons room) and I bind any entity that would try to distract or hinder a move of your spirit. Holy Spirit, come sweep this room clean. May every prayer or cry uttered here be heard in heaven and active angel armies. May this be a place where (name the person) grows closer to you in faith and friendship.”

As you walk and pray, maybe you ask God what he would have you pray in each room and for each family member. Ask Jesus, who is our great intercessor, what he’s praying for your family and join him in agreement.

As the Holy Spirit brings scripture to your mind, pray it for your family and situation. These do no have to be long drawn our prayers. Remember, just calling on the name of Jesus is a complete prayer. He knows what you need before you even ask.

Never despise small beginnings. Start where the Lord has you and grow with him.

But Mama, you’ll never regret praying over your family.
