Recently, I got a “check in my spirit” about w Recently, I got a “check in my spirit” about wearing my Apple Watch.

One day I looked down at the notifications coming through and the green light against my wrist constantly taking my heart rate and keeping up with my sleep patterns….

Something felt off in my spirit.

For multiple reasons, I’ve gone back to a regular watch, using the Apple Watch only for exercise.

I can’t explain it, but I’m not going back.

Anyone else?

When I die, I pray that with every gift God has When I die,

I pray that with every gift God has entrusted to me, my life leaves such a deep footprint of Christ,

that every defeated demon on this planet cheers and throws a party because my race is done.

God, may my life always be a Hallelujah to Your Name and a terrifying threat to the Kingdom of Darkness. ⚔️🔥

Duane and I recently took a quick trip to the beac Duane and I recently took a quick trip to the beach for a few days. Just the two of us.

It had been way too long since we had been away together.

I had a young married mom call me a few weeks ago to share her concerns about feeling a ‘distance’ in her marriage. I assured her that it was very common to feel that way and most marriages have ups and downs like that.

I reminded her that when marriages begin, it’s so easy to love! I used the analogy of a beautiful bonfire.
God is the one who gets that fire burning. We didn’t even have to work at it back then because it was so easy to love.
But after a while, God wants *us* to be the ones to go and get the wood for our fires and it’s WORK often times.
If we don’t go get the wood by putting in the work for our marriages, the fire we once had can become a tiny little flame that barely keeps us warm.
That’s when marriages get cold.

I simply reminded her that she needs to start going and “getting the wood.” I suggested they take walks together and maybe even a trip together.

As soon as those words left my lips to my young friend, I was so convicted.

I tried to remember how long it had been since I had been away with my husband. And I could barely remember.

So I booked the trip.
We did have a great getaway with walks on the beach, seafood dates, and long talks in the balcony of our hotel room. It was just what “our fire” needed.

Marriage is work y’all! If you’ve been married longer than 5 years, you know it just doesn’t come as easy as it used to in the early years.

And if I’m being honest, there have been several times in our 34 years that I didn’t really like him and he didn’t like me. (Yeah, I said it.)

But, we’ve learned to not keep a record of wrongs.
We’ve learned to be patient and kind.
We’ve learned to be selfless and humble when we mess it up.
We’ve learned (painfully) to forgive.
And forgive again.
And again and again.

I guess we’ll always be learning.
And forgiving.
So here’s to fresh wood on our 34 year old fire. 🪵
May the flames be an ever imperfect offering before the Lord. 🔥
